PUT STUDENTS FIRST!

Look, I recognize that there are central office positions that need to be filled. I’m sure the system does need a CFO. (Although, I would like to see the former CFO salary taken off the books before we add yet another one at $114,000 a year.) But the classroom staffing needs should be a much higher priority.

An understaffed classroom is an unsafe classroom.
So how did we get to the precipice we’re facing on August 8th?

Wardynski “Doesn’t Know” If Huntsville City Schools Will Meet IEPs

Filed in polity, venomTags: , , , , , , , ,

At a stop on his “listening tour” (a part of his 60 Day Entry Plan) yesterday at 10:00am, I was able to ask Dr. Wardynski one direct question. I asked, “Dr. Wardynski, is the school system going to be in a place to meet the requirements of IEPs on August 8th?” To this question Dr. Wardynski responded, [...]

Lessons Learned while on Vacation–David S.

Filed in David S., spiritTags: , ,

Vacation – a time when we’re supposed to remove ourselves from our daily responsibilities and live it up, let our hair down (well for some of you), relax, and set aside the cares of this world. “You’ll Have to Wait”

Filed in polity, spiritTags: , , , , , , ,

Last night, the Huntsville City School Board and Dr. Wardynski told me, by ignoring me, that I need to be patient. By not including the special needs segregation plan on the agenda, they told me, again, that I would have to wait. On March 17th, I was told by this board and Dr. Moore that [...]

The Superintendent and the Board to Parents: “No Comment.”

Filed in polityTags: , , , , , , ,

As is my custom of late, I attended the board meeting tonight. I truly hate to write this, but it was a waste of an hour of my life. However no one ever said that accountability was easy. I will therefore continue to attend these meetings and raise questions. Maybe they will occasionally, mistakenly, answer [...]

Email: RIF Cuts Applied Unfairly to Special Needs Students

Filed in polityTags: , , , , , , ,

[Ed. Note: This is an email that I sent to Dr. Wardynski and the Board on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 11:17:17 PM CDT. I have received no response concerning any of the issues I have raised. I shared many of these same concerns at the board meeting on July 21, 2011. I, again, received [...]
